Fibromyalgia vs Chronic Fatigue Syndrome – Pt 2

An In-depth Look at Chronic Fatigue Syndrome

Last week, we started to look at Chronic Fatigue Syndrome (CFS) as being due to the body’s inability to recharge because of an injury to the brainstem. There are many things that could have caused that injury including car accidents, sports-related injuries, physical abuse, and more.

Though, whatever type of accident caused that injury, the connective tissue that holds the spine in place was torn loose. The tearing loose of that tissue causes the spine to breakdown and lock into a stressed position.

Because of all of that excess weight on the upper neck vertebrae, or the top two vertebrae in the neck, on the most moveable part part of the spine, it is effected the most. That misalignment to the upper neck then places pressure on the brainstem altering the brainstem’s ability to function properly. That can then lead to further complications including a dysfunctions in the release of cortisol, which can lead to various problems with the mind and the body.

CFS Research

Though, research by Dr. Marshall Dickholtz Sr. and his team revealed a connection between the upper cervical spine and CFS. Here are some of their finding six months after the initial adjustments to their subjects:

  • Increase in physical functioning (58% to 85%)
  • Improvement in health (35% to 55%)
  • Improvement in Mental Health (50% to 70%)
  • Increased Social Functioning (40% to 70%)
  • Improvement in vitality (17% to 55%)

A Step Forward

This specialized, gentle form of chiropractic not only led to an improvement in the quality and quantity of sleep, but there was also a significant decrease in the use of sleep medication. One patient even showed normalized release of Cortisol levels in the morning and evening after six months of care.

Now that you know what upper cervical chiropractic can do for you, there is only one thing left for you to do. Make an appointment with an upper cervical chiropractor, so you can begin the healing process.
