Fibromyalgia is a chronic health syndrome that has chronic widespread pain as its number one symptom. However, a recent study involving 226 subjects over the course of two years has revealed why the medical industry has experienced so much trouble providing both a proper diagnosis and care of those with this condition.
The Results of the Fibromyalgia Study
The study involved testing the participants over time to determine if they did or did not meet the criteria for a diagnosis of chronic fatigue. Many of the patients over the course of the two years fell in and out of the definition of fibromyalgia due to fluctuations in symptoms. As a result, it is clear that some patients may be given the wrong diagnosis or no diagnosis at all if symptoms are fluctuating at the time of doctor visits. Prescribed treatments may also vary depending on how the patient feels at the moment.

How Upper Cervical Care May Help
If the Fibromyalgia symptoms are being caused by an upper cervical misalignment, then correcting the misalignment should help reduce the frequency and severity of flare-ups. Such a misalignment can occur during head or neck trauma from an accident or injury, even if the damage seemed minor at the time. Sometimes it can be years before the symptoms of a misalignment show themselves.
At Advance Spinal Washington, we use the NUCCA method for identifying and correcting specific misalignments in the C1 and C2 vertebrae. This part of the neck, in particular, is vital to central nervous system health. In fact, a misalignment here may disrupt the brain’s ability to interpret pain signals properly. If you suffer from fibromyalgia, especially if you have head or neck trauma in your history, come in and see what NUCCA can do to benefit you.
